JEE Main 2019 [Phase I]


JEE Main is all India common engineering entrance examination conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), formerly conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for admission to NITs, IIITs and CFTIs (undergraduate programmes BE, B.Tech, B.Arch) participating though Central Seat Allocation Board.

Type of Questions: Objective type with equal weightage to Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics
Mode of Exam: Computer based

Paper: Paper 2 (B.Arch./B.Planning.)
Subjects: Mathematics – Part I; Aptitude Test – Part II; Drawing Test – Part III
Type of Questions: Objective type & Questions to test drawing aptitude
Mode of Exam: Computer based (Part I and Part II); Pen and Paper based (Part III)

Exam Pattern (Paper 1):

  • The exam will be of total 3-hour duration.
  • All the questions will be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) i.e. each question will have four choices, only one being the correct choice.
  • Each correct answer fetches 4 marks, while each incorrect answer has a penalty of 1 mark (-1 mark).
  • No marks are awarded for questions not attempted.
  • There will be 90 questions in all.
  • The candidate can go back and change any of his/her answers among the 90 questions.
Exam Pattern (Paper 2):
  • The exam will be of total 3-hour duration.
  • Mathematics and Aptitude Test will be of objective type (multiple choice questions) i.e. each question will have four choices, only one being the correct choice.
  • For MCQs, each correct answer fetches 4 marks, while each incorrect answer has a penalty of 1 mark (-1 mark).
  • Drawing Test will be Pen and Paper based test of 70 marks having questions to test drawing aptitude.
  • No marks are awarded for questions not attempted.
  • There will be 82 questions in all.
